Massive rainfall swells rivers in Clinton area

Clinton Automotive owner Gordon Shobe watched the Tuscarawas River rise after heavy weekend rain. About a foot of water flooded his shop by noon Monday and was expected to creep higher as the river breached its banks. Shobe remarked the flooding was worse than he had seen in some time and noted the river behind his business continued to spill over.

Former Notre Dame student returns to Catholic leadership in Ohio

Former coach and Notre Dame graduate Matt Monter, raised in Louisville and educated at St Louis School, has accepted the principal role at Sts. Philip and James School Canal Fulton after six years in public schools. He pursued teaching studies in South Bend and Memphis, met his wife Maria there, and now returns to Catholic education.

Flooding washes out bridge to Green family home

Lori Steineck of GateHouse Media Ohio reports that flash flooding Monday morning washed out the small bridge to a Green home at 1295 E Nimisila Road. Cory Dewey said the driveway to the newly moved family residence for his wife, three children, and two dogs is gone.

Four Teens Sentenced In Indian River Riot

Four teens pleaded guilty to riot charges from an incident at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon. Appearing in Stark County Common Pleas Court were Fred D. Golson Anton S. Gronzalski King Jomeo J. White and Myc kel Cannady all 18 or 19 at the time. Their cases were moved to adult court and they remain sentenced in the adult system after guilty pleas as part of the Ohio Department of Youth Services facility proceedings.

Pentagon orders 1000 more troops to the Middle East

The Pentagon on Monday ordered an additional 1,000 American troops to the Middle East to bolster security after attacks on commercial ships. The United States blames Iran for the strikes, intensifying regional tensions as U.S. forces increase presence in the area.
