Opioid Overdoses Rise Across Appalachia Study Finds
A NACo ARC report shows Appalachian counties had 24 opioid overdose deaths per 100 000 in 2017 tying to 14 per 100 000 in non Appalachian areas. It calls for county task forces improved prevention treatment and tighter oversight of prescriptions to reverse the regional epidemic. Ross County Ohio features in seven case studies with naloxone use drug courts and recovery programs expanding to employers and SCOJFS coordination.
