States sue to stop $26.5 a deal between Sprint. T-Mobile
A group of 16 Democratic state attorneys general led by New York and California filed a federal lawsuit in New York to block T-Mobile's $26.5 billion bid for Sprint, saying claimed rural network and faster service benefits cannot be verified and that reducing competition would raise cellphone prices. Letitia James said combining the firms would harm affordable wireless nationwide, with impact on low income and minority communities. Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Virginia and Wisconsin joined. The suit precedes a federal antitrust ruling, with the DOJ decision pending and FCC support noted.
