Miss Belle Emerson of Mt. Eaton died after a phaeton overturned on Pigeon Run hill near Massillon. Her companion Miss Sadie Schlafly leaped to safety as the horse kicked. Death attributed to apoplexy after the body was moved to Mt. Eaton for burial in Canal Dover.

At Lussex July 22 the inter-university meet crowned C C Vassall of Oxford as long jump winner with A D Daley of Harvard second and J D Roche of Harvard third. Harvard won hammer and Quinlan captured the hundred yard dash. Harvard's A Nice cleared six feet three inches to win the high jump. Cambridge’s H W Workman won the mile, A Hunter of Cambridge also took the mile, and Yale’s D Boardman placed second with C B Spitzer third. Fox of Cambridge won the hurdles.
