Death of Secretary Hay shocks nation in Newbury
Newbury New Hampshire July 1 Secretary of State John Hay died at 12 25 AM after a pulmonary embolism. He had sailed for Europe in March for rest and treatment, returned to Washington June 13 and spent summer at Newbury. He is survived by wife Helen and two daughters and a son Adelbert Hay who was killed in Pretoria.
