Bloodless battle and divorce case dominate Canton report

Massillon court actions include a divorce for Mary Ringhart with $500 alimony and several civil suits. A Canton brick plant owner assigned assets of about $12,000 with liabilities of $10,000. Burglars attempting a depot safe were thwarted. shots fired, no injuries. Magistrates set next week’s heavy docket with many cases across town.

Guarding the Grave Over a Disputed Exhumation

A Western Reserve Medical College agent served notice on Tuscarawas township trustee Eggert to disinter the lily of Joseph Harrow buried at public expense. Locals defend the grave, guard duties set nightly, and no exhumation has occurred. Also reported: Charles Stoner had a serious accident after his horse freaked, dragging him 200 yards before rescue. he suffers injuries but no bones broken. John Cassidy Charged With Altering a Mil l to a B10 Case

John Cassidy of Salem was arrested in Lisbon and brought before United States Commissioner R. H. Folger charged with altering an 81 bill to $10. Cassidy was placed under $1,000 bond for February 3. Thomas Petrie bonded yesterday for a later appearance before Commissioner Folger. Samuel Carr prosecutes.

Miners to Be Paid for Whole Output Under New Bill

Columpus Jan 28 The Ohio House passed labor bills including an anti screen measure by Mr Jones requiring miners be paid for all output with coal weighed before screening. The act targets foreign labor by rewarding efficiency and carries a 300 dollar fine for noncompliance and becomes operative in six months.
