Washington January 22 members of the house committee on foreign affairs predict the proposed reaffirmation of the Monroe doctrine will rest in committee files if sent by the senate. General Thomas Ewing ex congressman from Ohio died after injuries from a cable car collision proved fatal. He served as brigadier general and later major general in the Civil War and held multiple legal and political posts in Ohio and New York. He left five children and his wife survives.
