A Massillon-Canton crowd parties for Mr. Joe Ehret. church events, a Knights of Labor report, and local assignments in Canton courts are noted. A Massillon man, Mr William Neville, dies in Iowa after a career from Massillon, aged 71.

Missing Prudential official Barrett sparks embezzlement rumor

C F Barrett assistant superintendent of Prudential Insurance who had an Alliance office disappeared after collecting about twenty dollars for the company. He was last seen returning to Alliance and may have gone to New York or Philadelphia. Barrett, age about thirty, left a wife and three children in destitute circumstances and owed a local collector money. Community quiet on the alleged embezzlement.

Reed & Co Plans 24 Hour Glass Factory Expansion

Reed & Co of Massilloni Glass Works aims to raise output by one third by converting factory No. 1 to a Streator tank system after the summer shutdown. The change would enable continuous 24 hour operation, replacing pot furnaces and increasing payroll, subject to tank patent ownership and supply.

Promoter A J Packard Seeks Massillon Industrial Growth

A J Packard, prominent Youngstown businessman, urged Massillon’s Board of Trade to pursue eastern shoe industry investments. He described successful placements in Youngstown and Ravenna and cited a Lynn Massachusetts example to illustrate employment potential for women and children. He offered to arrange 1000 to 2000 jobs with a Morgan-type plant and said he could visit Massillon to discuss inducements.

Bridgeport Festival Figure In Coal Attack

Valentine Morsheiser of Bridgeport, noted for praising Albrigh Co.'s turkeys, attacked miner John Konig last night at about seven. He struck Konig on the head with coal, then felled him with a fence rail. Morsheiser fled. no action taken yet. Konig received medical care. No motive given.

House Defeats Flag Display Bill and School Commissioner Pay

In Co. umsus Ohio on January 22 the house voted 44 to 46 against Massies bill allowing boards of education to display the American flag over school houses. McMakin’s measure to raise the state school commissioner salary from 2000 to 3000 was also decisively defeated.

Cincinnati reports Dr. Buck, a local physician, returning from a professional visit to Senator elect Thompson in Sidney. The doctor does not believe he will recover.

The Episcopal church ladies announce an orange tea Friday from 6 to 8 PM in the Sunday school room. Tickets are 35 cents offering a menu including turkey, cranberries, escalloped oysters, pickles, chicken salad, brown bread, veal loaf, rolls, ice cream, orange ice, cake, tea and coffee.
