Canton Jan. 15 The district Masons meet at the Temple for fraternity business and a three degree exemplification followed by a banquet. The grand jury’s report names multiple indictments including Harrington for horse stealing, Wilson for assault and battery and larceny, Hoeller for obtaining property under false pretenses, Kane for larceny, Moonshower for assault, Quiley for pocket picking, Page for robbery, with additional cases pending public release. Civil actions include Anna Rogers seeking divorce from Elmer E. Rogers on grounds of extreme cruelty. Chub Piero begins a two year penitentiary term for burglary. Harriett Machamer sues for divorce on cruelty and neglect. A suit by Hoffman and Gibbons claims $162.23 against Henry Keller and others over property claims at Mt. Union.
A special meeting of Sip- Pe Lodge No. 48 I O O F is held tonight at sharp to arrange attendance at the funeral of Brother Martin Shank who died this morning near Dalton at 9 30. By order of J W Hisey Recording Secretary. All Eke Lodge No 77 members are to attend a Serennial League meeting this evening where seventeen candidates will be initiated. EK W Bussy President. Also local ads for Best laundry soap cheap for the box Dielhem Bros watches from 450 to 600 and sugar prices at Albright & Co.
The Lincoln Day banquet at Memorial Hall will feature no wine and will include ladies as attendees. Guests may enter galleries to cheer the speaker and enjoy the menu. Tickets cost 5 dollars with special railroad rates for attendees and rooms arranged at Boody House for speakers.
Berwin January 15 special dispatch reports Prof Koch revealing a lymph cure based on glycerine and pure tuberculosis bacilli. He asserts K is curative.
Subscriptions to a Litigation Fund are invited with the fund growing larger. Treasurer J. H. Hunt will apply the money as he sees fit. A benefit matinee by the Rutledge Company will donate half receipts to the fund. The Independent urges subscriptions and notes ongoing public duties to investigate the railroad company.
