Paris reports say President Carnot retains Ribot as premier amid a cabinet rift over the arrest of ex minister Bashut and related Panamanian prosecutions. Great trial opens in France over Panama frauds

Paris January 11 The great trial opens in the court of cessation with Count de Lesseps absent by certificate. Charles de Lesseps testifies first describing Panama Company organization and his father’s role. He says Count de Lesseps reinvested funds by buying founder shares and subscribing for new issues.

Airship patent and steered floating craft proposed in St Louis

A St Louis inventor protects an airship patent with plans for a cigar shaped craft 100 feet long and 20 feet wide with 40000 cubic feet of gas capacity and a 2890 pound load. It will be steerable and capable of floating on water, with a steel or aluminum frame and varnished air tight ribs. The cabin sits amidships with space at ends for chambers and machinery. In a separate note Dr Brigg s was formally acquitted in New York after a church presbytery report approved probation for a minister accused of offenses.

Chattanooga Molders May Strike

There is trouble among union molders in Chattanooga and a strike is imminent. President Fox of Cincinnati and Executive Committee James Diamond of Nashville have arrived to discuss a dispute over piecework pay. The union objects to wages rising from the ruling 75 cents to 1 dollar 40 cents, and about 150 molders are involved with a possible walkout.

State college contingent fund capped at five hundred

Harrispurn Jan 11. Officials said the state's accounting officers cap the electoral college contingent expenses at 500, under a strict construction of the 1929 act. This will leave many clerks and assistants without compensation.
