Arrest of Four Dozen Councilmen Sparks Hall Break-In

Wueretne February 37. Four dozen councilmen attempting to block a quorum hid in a hall and were arrested when police broke in. They were taken to city hall where pending measures were passed. A damages suit is threatened. Several councilmen were injured during resistance.

British force attacks Sonudis to punish killings

A British expedition of about AW men attacked the Sonudis country after an ambush that killed Sub-Commissioner Fenner. The force, from Broniles in Affinadu, killed about 17 Sonudis including Lieutenant Colonel Maitland. The Sonudis were beaten off with about 150 of their men dead. The cattle were stampeded and lost. The expedition returned to Affinadu.

Train wreck on Wabash line near Millersburg injures many

An Indiana wreck on the Wabash line about two miles west of Millersburg occurred after a broken rail. The engine crossed the break safely but six cars derailed. one car, the Pulliman, slid down a 25 foot embankment. Of 410 plus passengers, none escaped injury, 12 severely hurt, with risk of death.

Fire Tragedy at Diamondville Mine Claims 85 Men

In Diamondville Wyoming on February the Diamondville Coal and Coke mine No 1 suffered a deadly fire. A catgress miner's lamp is blamed for the blaze which engulfed two entries. Only one man, Jot Anderson, escaped as hundreds of miners and others fought to rescue imprisoned colleagues. The fire was confined to the two entries and sealed off to prevent spread after all hope of saving lives was abandoned.

Morgan outlines United States Steel capitalization plan

J P Morgan authorized the Associated Press to state that United States Steel’s capitalization would total 800 million in bonds 400 million in preferred stock and 100 million in common stock.
