Fire destroys Henry Guekes residence near Valley rail line
The Canton area reports a morning fire along the Valley railroad track that leveled Henry Guekes home a story and a half. Fire caused by lard boiling over. Guekes rescued with near suffocation and facial burns. Mrs. Guekes cut hands from broken glass while attempting rescue. The 10 o clock blaze prompted other town news including a memorial building push and local tax talks.

Electric railway plans debated at Massillon meeting

Special dispatch reports General Sherman in a comatose state and near death at 1 30 am with a family summoned and a crowd outside his residence. At 1 30 pm reports say he rallies briefly and doctors note slight hope for recovery despite renewed weakness and risk of relapse. The President later learns Senator Sherman sent word of a slight improvement.

Murder of Harlan Judge by Son Sparks Kentucky Crisis
Special Dispatch from Pineville Kentucky reports Judge Wilson Lewis of Harlan county, famed for clearing the area of desperadoes, was murdered by his son Sidney. Threats had arisen from rival factions and after bonds were set to keep the peace, the son opened fire, killing the judge with five shots.

The senate approved funds for a widow of a late senator, authorized Massillon to issue bonds for street work, set Stark county court constables at 600 annually, and allowed Uhrichsville to issue 13500 in bonds to build an engine house and buy land for a railroad shop site.
