Truant Officer Fred Hose records for Massillon union school district show 49 truancy cases among 33 pupils from 37 families in the month ending January 31 1891. Six children were placed in schools and three found on streets were sent to school.

Burglars at Dalton Loot McDowell & Jameson Hardware
Burglars entered the Dalton hardware store by skeleton keys, stealing revolvers pocket knives safety razors and two dollars in pennies. Locks were found unlocked and one locked on exit.
