Judge Duncan Dow may preside at the Republican event with speakers including Senator Foraker Governor Herrick and a Roosevel t cabinet member such as Root Shaw or Moody. The meeting of the Republican state executive committee approved the plan amid mixed reports on Herrick’s defections and improved outlook. State Chairman Dick called the gathering good though reports were not all bright. Herrick was asked to explain several vetoes to provide a direct statement for constituents.

United States Steel to buy 40000 tons pig iron this afternoon
Youngstown reports that United States Steel Corporation plans to purchase forty thousand tons of Bessemer pig iron from the Bessemer Pig Iron Association for September delivery. A special meeting of the association is planned in Cleveland. The price is said to be 14.50 per ton.
