Invention touted for saving in printing press tech

A Philadelphia correspondent reports A Watson Atwood of Philadelphia secured a patent for a Baltimore party made from reed cane fiber to produce newspaper and other paper at low cost. The process yields pulp from reed cane at one to five cents per pound with 7 cent flat paper and 3 to 5 cent newsprint. The patent owner, a Baltimore widow, aims to license mills.
