Q4THS REUNION Eighteen Deaths Reported Since Last Reunion
The thirty third annual One Hundred and Fourth Ohio Volunteer Infantry reunion opened at 2:15 pm with meetings in Massillon. Deaths by company were noted, officers elected, and next gathering set for Wells ville in August 1903. A camp fire program followed with songs, solos, and reminiscences, attracting a large appreciative audience.

Dennis Moylan Dies Quietly at Osnaburg Mine
Dennis Moylan 45 unmarried mine superintendent at Osnaburg was found dead in his North Lawrence home after not waking for his usual hour. Heart trouble suspected. He was a politically active Massillon figure known in local circles. The body to be buried in North Lawrence.

Season Of Reunions At Nimisila Park In 1902
The third annual Scott and Freeman family reunion gathered at Nimisila park on August 1902 with seventy four attendees. Morning mingling and a noon dinner followed by an invocation by George Ingold. Officers for the coming year were elected and a 1903 reunion date set. The Daum reunion at Leonard Schneider residence on Canton road drew a large crowd with orchard tables for dinner followed by races, games, music, and recitations. Clergy addresses from Schumacher, Bartlemas, and Lose were given. The Tressel reunion is planned for Charity school with Rev. E L S Tressel and other relatives listed as members.

Narrow escape at Crystal Spring crossing ends with rescue
Mrs. Louis Hair of a Massillon farm narrowly escaped death when a horse driven buggy was struck by a B and O freight at Crystal Spring crossing. The horse bolted and toppled the buggy, pinning her briefly under the wagon. William Leonard saved her by restraining the horse until the train passed. Mrs Hair was not seriously hurt, the horse died, and the buggy was wrecked.

Railways Offer Special Rates for Street Fair Week
The Street Fair Association has arranged special rail fares with Pennsylvania Railway Company and Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway for the entire week of the carnival and an extra day. Wheeling & Lake Erie will cover towns from Wellington to Jewett on the Toledo division and Coshocton to Navarre on the Cleveland division. Pennsylvania rates will apply to towns between Salem and Loudonville. B&O rates are not yet set and will be announced later.

Work on Northwest street grounds begins for the second week of September fair. H A Bloomberg & Brother have contracted a two story electrical display structure for a merchants’ exhibit with a self contained fair within. A Toledo Junior automobile raffle is planned with tickets sold by the Massillon Eagles. Railroads set a two cent per mile rate to attract crowds from nearby towns. A large out of town audience is expected and local merchants anticipate big street displays and prize competitions for farm and garden products.

Regimen Called to Arms as Mob Clashes in Shenandoah
In Shenandoah Pennsylvania on August 16 a mob of fifty to sixty chased an alleged unfair workman near the washery of the Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company. Watchman Anthony Flinn was beset and cast into a creek. Troops from the Twelfth regiment and Eighth battalion restored order, arresting John Howe, Frederick Zimmerman, and Matthew Bronz. Troops remained on duty through the night.
