A 22 year old daughter of Ben Prosser in West Masonsillon attempted self destruction by laudanum and previously by rough on rats. Doctors withhold names but neighbors say she is suffering from an incurable hip disease and is resting comfortably after the latest overdose.
A Republican meeting at the Republican club library authorized by the candidates to pursue a recount of ballots cast. The plan targets miscast second ward and fourth ward tickets and seeks a court petition to appoint three disinterested referees to recount all four wards with power to discard illegal votes, with results expected within days.
Complete tabulated returns show Republicans winning the council majority with two bonding measures approved and the city hall bill failing. Third ward decide marshal and street commissioner results with slim Republican margins. total votes 2 234 across four wards.
William Kerstetter known as Tender Foot Bill lies in Hotel Conrad room 58 with a left breast wound from a pocket knife wielded by John Wendling the molder. He says Wendling stabbed him after a discussion about voting for Wendling’s brother. The injury is treated. doctor notes possible danger. Kerstetter intends to have Wendling arrested.
Report of the election in Tuscarawas township Stark county Ohio April 6 1891. Republicans elect a township treasurer in a local county election with turnout noted.
Special Dispatch reports Canton on April 7 saw a decisive party shift as Republicans won every race. Mayor John F. Blake Democrats by about 60, council seats split 8 to 6, with Thos F Turner solicitor, Henry Leonard street commissioner, Benj McCloud market master, and Wm A Gentry marshal among victors. Pluralities ranged from 147 to 1,167.
At Canal Falson April 7 voters chose a mayor A H Mc Cadden and rival A J Killinzer. Clerk Henry Murphy and rivals W E Moulton, treasurer D K Jones and C A Vanderhoof, mars shhal V Eckert, A J Miller received counts. Council members A Brown J S Bissonnette F Bowman Chas Gramer G Fellmuth M S Oliver, and school board members J B Bissonnette D Harman H A Fisher J H Porter were also listed with vote totals.
Detroit April 7 reports show Michigan citizens voted on the supreme court justice and two Regents of the University. Later tallies indicate Republican majorities on the State ticket, with an average lead around 2,500 votes.
