Express No 9 kills miner at North Lawrence crossing
Moses Farmer, about 57, was fatally struck at the North Lawrence crossing when an express train hid behind a freight and struck a brewery truck driven by Charles Matju. The truck was destroyed and Matju escaped with back pains. Farmer leaves seven children. Anton Kopp, brewery proprietor, loses about 200 dollars. Coroner to receive the body. North Lawrence mourns the tragedy.

Drunkenness conviction fines Keeley Silver Ash graduate

Two Brothers Killed In Fatal Railroad Crash Near Navarre
Italian coal miners brothers Frank and Azy Soncennetta were killed when passenger train No 4 of the U S & W struck their wagon near Warmington close to Navarre. The elder Frank, about 25, died instantly. Azy, about 18, died en route to Massillon. The uninjured brother escaped with minor bruises. Coroner to hold inquest next week. trainman Eugene Sanborn said he could not stop in time. The victims resided in Navarre and were employed at the Oak Hill mine.

Jury Discharges Burns Case in Prize Fight Trial
In Carrollton on April 2 the Ohio state prize fighting case against Michael Burns ended with a deadlocked jury after an all night deliberation. About seventy witnesses testified as defense argued for acquittal while prosecutors urged conviction. The jurors stood four for acquittal and eight for conviction before being discharged.
