The annual reunion and banquet of the Marysville Board of Trade drew 138 boosters at Armory Hall. A. M. E. Church catered the dinner with Arion Trio music, while speeches by Rev. E S Weaver and Daniel F Mooney highlighted civic progress and future streetcar expansion hopes.
The engagement of Miss Bess Roseberry of Rosedale and Professor N. W. Harter of Wittenberg College Springfield is announced. Miss Roseberry has taught at Milford Center for several years and the wedding is expected to be a social highlight.
Weidman Bros. win contract to furnish quarter-sawed oak shelving for Wolgamot Bros. drug store Marysville. Shelving will extend to near the ceiling, expanding display space. new showcases already installed and improved lighting promise one of the nicest business rooms in town.
Judge Brodrick finds Addie Jarvis failed to prove any misdemeanor by Mary E. Shirk on the late father's farm. Defendant shown to prevent timber cutting. Decree for defendant. temporary injunction dissolved and petition dismissed at plaintiff's costs. Appeal noted with $300 bond. attorneys F A Thompson and John L Loughrey.
Automobile owners complain about pike repairs. They say the potholes were filled with crushed stone and urge a surface of screenings to be laid and rolled. They note the county has a steam roller to aid proper resurfacing.
The Lantern lauds Prof. Eugene F. McCampbell of Marysville for his Sigma Xi lecture on The Poisonous Secretions of Animals. He is an instructor in bacteriology with notable infectious disease research and immunity work. He toured Mexico last year to study typhus transmission under OSU and the National Academy of Medicine, and will travel through Europe and Africa this fall and winter to study conditions. He is the son of Judge and Mrs. McCampbell.
Earl Prugh of London was in Marysville consulting merchants about starting a union delivery system similar to London. He cited an earlier failed attempt by Dana Reed and noted Marysville’s rapid ten year growth. Prugh may relocate if merchants back the idea.
Mrs. Nancy Culbertson aged 70 of Kenton died Thursday night after a long illness. She was mother of Mrs. Charles A. Hopkins of Marysville and survived by five daughters including Mrs. Hopkins Mrs. Smith and Elizabeth Blanche and Retta Culbertson. Funeral services were held Sunday at two in Kenton conducted by T. W. Pinkerton with burial in Kenton. Marysville friends attended.
Frank Heller sued Albert Courtright of Jerome township in Marysville to recover 375 dollars for failing to give possession of a business room. The case was settled out of court with Courtright paying 200 dollars and the costs. John L. Loughrey represented the plaintiff and E. W. Porter the defendant.
The Raymond high school held its annual commencement Friday evening with a large turnout. Prof. J. S. Dickinson of Wooster University delivered the class address. Ten graduates were named seven boys and three girls Roe Balo Burnis Bushong Ivan Smith Lloyd Thompson Dyer Lockwood Malcolm Figley Wildi Rosenbrook Pearl Blake Opal Harrington Caypel Orchemrith. An orchestra from Bellefontaine provided music.
Marysville Y M C A Junior-Senior group met at L W McAllister home after Bible study and shared a Sunday dinner featuring a young pig roast. Attendees included Parrott Jr, Reed Baldwin, Mills, Porter, Sellers, Dunham, Teets, Sawyer, and McAllisters. County Secretary J C White and Prof D H Sellers joined. A collision injured Frank Smart when his horse pulled a lumber wagon into a passing auto on Main Street. windshield shattered but no serious harm to horse or driver.
The Columbus Chamber of Commerce, via Representative George M. Wilber, sends twenty pounds of sugar beet seed to Marysville for local farmers to grow sugar beets this season. Seed available at J. L. Reagle's shoe store with free planting instructions. If enough beets are grown, a sugar mill and refinery may be established in Union County.
Mrs Edward Griffith aged 25 daughter of Reuben Huffman of Marysville died Wednesday last week at her Woodstock home after a year long tuberculosis illness. She spent winter in Florida with her husband seeking relief but failed. Survived by husband and two daughters. Funeral held Friday at 2 PM at Woodstock Universalist Church with burial in village cemetery. Mr Huffman and family attended.
Chester Sheridan eldest son of Mrs Anna Sheridan of Marysville married Miss Charlotte Kidd in Pittsburg at the bride’s home. Sheridan has worked ten years as a clerk in the Schenley Hotel in Pittsburg where they will reside. They plan to visit his old home soon for congratulations.
Residents report a large wild animal in Liberty township after it was first seen along Millcreek on the Connor farm. D G Belleville and visitors from Bellefontaine, joined by neighbors, tried to capture it Monday but saw no trace. Tracks appeared large as a man’s hand, suggesting a lynx or catamount and possible other animals in the area near Peoria.
Alumni baseball team defeats high school boys at Recreation Park 18 to 17 in a game that started with an 18 to 2 lead for the grads before a wild late inning. Robert Beightler and Merrill Long brake were used as pitchers with rough results, Willie Harris finishing the inning as the students tallied 14 runs in the final frame.
In Taylor township Bessie Smith sues Oliver Shaw and others for farm partition. The motion to strike the amended answer is overruled as the defense denies possession and challenges court jurisdiction. Defenses must be separately stated. Judge Brodrick notes he was probate judge for Mrs. Oliver Shaw's will and suggests appointing another judge to proceed if requested.
Mayor S. E. MelIntire issues a proclamation designating Sunday May 14 as Memorial Day for Mothers to be observed by all religious groups and societies. Citizens of Marysville are asked to wear a white flower in honor of mothers.
Citizens discuss the dog ordinance presented by Members Brough and Dunham. It requires dog licenses from owners, with the marshal empowered to kill untagged dogs dated 1911. License costs one dollar, expected to deter worthless canines.
At a Saturday meeting of the Paris township Board of Education R H Snedeker was elected president to replace F M Gilcrest who moved to Dover township. New directors were named in several districts and Patterson commencement will be held in Luther hall Marysville. The Marysville board will receive 138 tuition for Patterson pupils. The resident director in each sub district will handle this year’s school enumeration.
The high school alumni committee announced the reunion program featuring piano solo by Gertrude Morey and vocal numbers by Helen Robinson and a trio led by Mrs Beightler. Welcome by Miss Clouse, responses by 1911 group, toast by Meade Robinson, and toastmaster Prof. Eugene McCampbell. Neldermeyer's Orchestra will provide music. attendance expected to be the largest ever.

Mesdames Brose Reed Harry Sharrer and C A Morelock Miss Elmo Snider and Ray Morse attended the funeral of Mrs Nancy Culbertson at Keaton Sunday.
Jacob Lee aged 82 died Saturday at the Sandusky Soldiers Home from age related illness. He left Marysville for the home a month ago and is survived by seven children including daughter Mrs. A V Kennedy of Milford Center. Funeral services were held at the Kennedy home in Milford Center with Rev J B Hagans officiating and burial in Milford Center cemetery. Lee was a Civil War veteran and relative of Confederate General Robert E Lee.
