Hasty operation for P. R. J. Schaefer company head
Phillip J. Schaefer, president of the PR J Schaefer company and a noted cheese dealer, fell ill with appendicitis late Saturday night. After a physician consultation an immediate operation was performed before noon Sunday. He declined ambulance aid, traveling to the hospital in a partner's touring car. The operation occurred within an hour and his condition appeared to improve, with a rapid recovery anticipated as of press time.

Peace Day Observed At St Pauls Church
Evangelical St Pauls church at Fourth and Vine will observe Peace Day on October 4 with two services. Morning at 10 o'clock will be in German and the 7:30 evening service in English. Rev G D Fleer will preach in the morning and Prof J Runk will speak in the evening. A harvest home festival will feature both services as the church and Sunday school decorate with fall grains fruits and vegetables from Marshfield and Wood County.
