Forty Five Years of Residence Highlight Wood County Pioneer

On last Saturday Supervisor John Rausch of the Fourth ward celebrated the forty fifth anniversary of his residence in Wood county. He helped advance the region from wilderness to an agricultural and industrial community. Rausch arrived in 1858, when the area was Portage county, and witnessed the deep snow winter and early development including Lincoln town’s formation and school district growth. He held multiple public offices, ran a threshing outfit, and later served as director and agent of Lynn Fire Insurance.
