McPherson Captured After Jail Wall Escape
Jack McPherson, longtime public figure, was captured Thursday morning after deputies found him at his home. Tragic Freight Train Death Of Walter Johnson
Walter Johnson aged five was fatally injured when he tried to jump a moving Northwestern freight at Vine Street yards. He was pulled under the wheels, his abdomen opened and his leg bruised, dying shortly after at St Josephs hospital. The boy, playing with friends after school, prompted a community warning to children about dangerous games. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at M E church, Kew Soule conducting.

Record Milking World Dairy Test at Helendale Farm
Saturday evening September 30 concluded a twelve month dairy test for Yeksa Sunbeam at Helendale Farm near Athens. The cow set a world record for butter fat and milk output, finishing with 14 920.8 pounds of milk and beating Princess Rhea’s butter fat by 81 455 pounds and Hayes Rosie’s milk by 287.72 pounds. Handled by experienced staff including P J Drissen for over eight months, the cow’s success highlights Marathon county as a dairy region.

Death of Mrs Francis at Deming home
Mrs. G. L. Francis, mother of Mrs. B. B. M. Deming, died at the Deming residence after a long illness. Funeral services were held there at 9:50 AM on Wednesday conducted by Rev. A. B. Soule. Pallbearers were I. P. Tiffault, John F. Cole, W. A. Sexton, Chas. Foster, E. E. Winch, and W. D. Connor. Remains were taken to Poynette for interment after travel by Omaha. Mrs. Francis was 78 and had lived in the area for years, beloved by many.
