John Dietz Surrenders After Thornapple River Siege

John Dietz gave himself up to Sheriff Madden after a daylong bombardment at the Thornapple cabin. Oscar Harp, a deputy, was killed and Dietz was wounded in the hand. Dietz wife and children were injured. Dietz faces murder and assault charges amid a tense standoff that drew in residents and officials from Winter and Minneapolis.

A BAIT PRACTICE IN NEIGHBORHOOD PHONE CALLS

Fire damages Fond du Lac Cheese and Butter warehouses

Elmer Erickson of Marshfield reports extensive losses from a Sunday morning fire at Fond du Lac Cheese and Butter. Two modern cold storage warehouses burned partially, stock valued at about 150000 was severely damaged, with insurance covering 5000 to 6000 on the buildings. Fire discovered at 5 a m, crews fought from roof. total stock loss awaiting further appraisal.

Married in Greenwood Two Weddings Highlight Local Nuptials

Last week in Greenwood Miss Mabel Bishop wed Royal Gardner Wilson at the bride’s parents home and plan to live at 105 N Central. This morning at eight Fr Vole joined Rose Kestel to John Schultz at the Catholic church. The Kestel heiress and Marshfield youth, both musicians, will reside in Marshfield after a dinner and supper at the bride’s home followed by a Rebscock dance tonight.

Express service to open in city early next year

The Westart Express Co plans city rail service and delivery on Soo and Canadian Pacific lines. An office will be built on the depot grounds just west of the present station with a roofed space intervening.

High School Football Meets Stanley High at Fairgrounds
