Prof King left for Madison with a report for the university extension division showing sales of nearly 300 tickets and hopes authorities will reduce the guarantee to avoid waste. The university chautauqua has an excellent reputation and Marshfield would benefit if the extension division’s program proceeds.
Mayor and Mrs Albert G Felker attended the installation of officers of SS Peter and Paul Court No 496 Catholic Order of Morsters in Grand Rapids. Mayor Felker served as installing officer and gave a brief address with Rev Father Reding also speaking. A supper and informal dance followed.
The Granton territory, comprising the village of Granton, voted 48 to 97 in favor of incorporation as a village. The Granton News notes the long-debated question is settled with this result.
Camp Wilson San Antonio Ort G- The men recount daily drills and meals aboard a busy camp life. Walter Mueller John Walterbach and Corpora are noted among those present as Wisconsin troops train northward amid cold nights and marching drills.
L Miller and Capt Georgy Hun ainker plus five companions returned Sunday from an eight day trip on the Flambeau river. The party, including John Roberts and Will Seebarscen joined by Motor Granda, saw deer and good hunting prospects, enjoyed fishing and a splendid journey with some pike catch effort.
Eleven year old Raymond, son of Mia Margaret Earle of 221 South Chestnut Street, sustained burns after finding a dynamite cap on a nearby farm. He tied a match to it while unfamiliar with the danger, burning his face and hands. burns will heal but leave powder marks. A separate note mentions Haney Dean of Dandheae Rogers, 14, who was injured while attempting to enter a dynamite car and suffered an explosion.
In a Teed Cutter accident on the T. FL Lee farm near Granton Theron Datit, son of Mr and Mrs a Tsosiden, reportedly lost part of his hand while handling equipment. Details remain unclear as authorities investigate the event on the Granton property.
United States Senator Paul D. Hastings is due in Marshfield Thursday on travel from Grand Rapids to Neilleville. Local Democrats plan to host him at the train and arrange a stopover so Wilson supporters can meet him during the day. Hastings is scheduled to speak in Grand Rapids tonight, with Marshfield Democrats planning to attend.
A preliminary meeting to plan a Wilson Campaign club for Marshfield was held Monday at city hall. Chairman R. J. Strauss was authorized to appoint a ward-based committee to organize and nominate officers. A formal organization meeting may occur Friday with notable speakers. Child dies at Rozenville. Six year old Andrew Wilhelm, son of Jabs Wilhelm, died Saturday of diphtheria.
William Albright longtime city assessor died at age 80 after a career of about twenty years serving the city. He was born near Mayfield and worked as a wagon maker and clerk before moving to Los Angeles with his wife. Survived by his wife and one son, he lived eight years in California. Funeral at the Presbyterian church this afternoon at two. City officials and council members will attend. city hall flag at half mast in his memory.
Miss Anne Katherine Joeink and Otto Veers wed at the bride’s parents home in Marshfield. The ceremony featured bridesmaid Agnes Veers and roan Otto Joehnk. couple leaves for a northern Wisconsin honeymoon and plans to reside on a Rozellville area farm. Veers, a local leader, is president of Marshfield Rural Telephone Company and secretary of the county Equity Hay Shipping Association. Attendants from Stratton, Chicago, and Legal joined relatives for an elaborate luncheon and decorated Joehnk home with white roses and southern smilax.
Guy E Blodgett and Miss Charlotte Anderson wed in Grand Rapids choosing a simple ceremony with a traveling suit bride. They traveled with Mr and Mrs Campbell and plan a tour to Niagara Falls and Auburn before returning home to Park Avenue and Spruce.
The Marshfield city council set aside 2000 dollars from 1916 taxes to pave Richfield street from Bakerville to the city limits. This addresses a long standing annoyance and improves access to the county trunk line toward Grand Rapids and Marshfield, signaling local progress and better tourist impressions.
Miss Catherine R Coughlin, formerly of Marshfield, wed Jacob Sturm in a Catholic church ceremony attended by relatives from Stratford Cleveland Campbellsport and others. The couple, after a two week eastern trip, will reside in a new Central Avenue block apartment with Mr and Mrs Rembs Sturm.
The couple from this city and Stevens Place will wed at high noon in the parish house with Father Rice officiating Miss Boston will be attended by her sister Miss Man sbys Mr Hoffman's sister will attend Melvin E Krang Walter Wood both former residents of this city. A breakfast will follow at the Boston residence.
