Flip of a coin decides Wood County register of deeds
A county race for Register of Deeds in Wood County ended in a coin flip after a recount left John A. Hotman Democrat and Henry Ebbe Republican deadlocked by 49 votes. The coin sided with Ebbe, giving him the office for two years. Attorneys for both sides supervised the recount and challenged defective ballots.

Four Cars of Grain Spill on Omaha Line
Freight train No. 107 derailed between FP two Bridge and Second Bridge, two and a half miles west of Omaha, spilling four cars of grain and blocking traffic. Passengers and baggage were transferred, a second train filled in, wrecking crews from Altoona cleared the line by Sunday, with routine service resumed after extensive repairs.

Withee firm to build large Soo Line freight depot
The Withee Construction company of Withee won the contract to erect a large new freight depot for the Soo Line. Chris Marken arranged the deal in Minneapolis, work to start within ten days, depot to measure 40 by 80 feet with tile and brick, completion targeted for the first of the year, with loading doors for fourteen wagons and a substantial crew at work.
