Schwantes cases seeks new trial in Klokow murder
Frank Schwantes, convicted over a year and a half ago for the murder of William and Ernestina Klokow near Spencer, seeks a new trial. His attorneys file motions and aim for the August term of the state supreme court. District Attorney Genrich prepared a 600 page bill of exceptions and will try to prevent re trial as prosecutors challenge circumstantial proof in the arson murder case.

Marshfield Choral Society Concert and Gun Club Scores
The Marshfield Choral Society presents its first concert at the opera house on Wednesday evening May 6 under Wu. Herbert Dale directs a varied program featuring solos and ensembles. The Marshfield Gun Club reported strong scores at the weekly park shoot with four twenty-five bird events. County Clerk Renne calls a special spring session of the county board to organize the new board and elect officers, with Gate Warden George W. Brown favored as next chairman. Abraham Kuntz, Civil War veteran and early Marshfield settler, died at sixty six, survived by a wife and seven children, funeral held Tuesday at the Lutheran church.

Equitable Fraternal Union Adjourns After Busy Convention
The Equitable Fraternal Union held its annual convention in Marshfield with about 150 delegates. Officers for the ensuing year were elected including S H Gruenbeck Fond du Lac and N A Ladd Madison as secretary. Madison won the bid to host the 1904 convention. A banquet at the opera house followed the business sessions. A farmer, Gustav Baranowski of Pike Lake, Marthon county, was arrested for defrauding the state by forging school district loan documents and attempting to cover it with falsified minutes and forged signatures.
