Marshfield Race Promises Clean Sweep for Republicans

The Republican ticket features W. H. Roddis for mayor and a slate of prominent Marshfield citizens. Roddis, a major local taxpayer and Roddis Veneer executive, leads a pro business, independent ticket. Charles Vedder seeks reelection as city clerk, J. Chris Dorpat for treasurer, and Capt. C. Martin for assessor, with strong support from party delegates and ward nominees for alderman and supervisor.

Fire damages shed at Marshfield Stave plant

A large dry shed at the Marshfield Stave company plant containing thousands of cords of basswood bolts caught fire at 1 30 on Thursday afternoon. Firefighters sprayed three streams but the blaze spread into the bolts making containment hard. The fire, started by sparks from the stack, could have been worse with different wind. Officers note muster and drill changes due to election and upcoming inspections.
