Veteran Dow of Chili Dies Suddenly in Russell Home
Veteran Wentworth Dow of Chili dropped dead Wednesday afternoon while visiting at the home of Mr and Mrs J J Russell. He had just arrived from Chili to visit his daughter Una Dow bookkeeper for Roddis Lumber and Veneer Co. Heart failure caused the sudden death. Deceased leaves a wife and eight children and had resided in the region since the Civil War.

Death of Fayette Lott at Abbotsford
Fayette Lott a Wisconsin Central brakeman from Abbotsford died Sunday in St Joseph's hospital after injuries from a switching accident Thursday. He was taken to Chippewa Falls for interment. brother John Lott of this city accompanied the remains. Lott fell from a locomotive step after the train moved past the yard office and sustained head injuries. amputation was performed but he did not recover. He leaves many friends among his fellow workers.

Beaver Queens Lodge Meets in Marshfield
The Beaver Queens held their regular Marshfield meeting at A. O. U. W. hall with guest Mrs. M. M. Penton. Penton recently organized a Black River Falls lodge of 125 members with $89,000 of insurance written in 30 days. Refreshments followed and the evening was enjoyed. Mrs. Penton is highly esteemed and will be welcomed again.

Inspection of Company A and Second Regiment Band
Maj Woodward of the regular army inspected the Company A and the Second Regiment band on Tuesday. The band met at its armory with a crowded audience and favorable remarks. Militiamen were drilled in heavy marching order and given a thorough test. the inspector was very pleased. The semi annual muster will occur next Monday with Maj Williams as inspecting officer. The adjourned hearing of George Spang was moved before Judge Hirth last Saturday. District Attorney Brazeau for the state and Judge E C Pors for the defense. Spang bound over for trial at the next circuit term. Mrs Perril’s testimony, backed by local residents, was the main evidence. bail default led to commitment to the county jail.

Tonight the season ends with a double bill at the armory as Marshfield meets Grand Rapids in a boys game and a preliminary girls contest. A strong county crowd is anticipated and invitations will go out this week for the wedding of Miss Nina M. Strong to Dr W S Powell at the Strong home 108 North Maple on Tuesday morning April 12.
