Legislative Doings and Electric Light Legislation Debated
Ex Governor Upham spoke against the Andrews bill banning new electric light plants in Guy city arguing it could spur conspiracies to control the industry. Other leaders backed the view as the law’s passage seemed unlikely. Assemblyman Oud supported a bill targeting gamblers and fortune tellers as vagrants, while Chief Jansen backs the measure. The primary election reform effort faltered, and Stevens works on a less radical version. The Dodge bill to cut taxes from 86 to 10 per month drew favorable reports and faces likely passage.
