Bad shooting affray ends with hospital shock for carpenter Spang

George Spang longtime local carpenter residing west of the city lies seriously injured in St. Joseph's hospital after a pistol shot by his former wife Mrs Elizabeth Perril. Spang, held under bonds, faces a murder charge and a March 8 hearing before Judge Hirth if able to appear. The sequence began after a Monday visit to Perril's home with a Winchester rifle and escalated to a close range pistol shot as Perril stood before a wine-drawer. Spang fled to Eckes' farm, then to town for medical care as investigators pieced together a tale of repeated confrontations and a violent dispute. The case hinges on the contested circumstances, with Spang under arrest and Perril alleging a dangerous assault.

CTY MAKES PURCHASE IN ELECTRIC LIGHT DEAL

At a Tuesday council meeting the electric light and waterworks matter advanced toward purchase. The electric light committee recommended accepting W H Uphams last proposition of 25400 for all interests, and the report was adopted. An ordinance created a plant management board of the mayor, three citizens, and one alderman. A Thursday meeting aimed to finalize the purchase. Defaulter Returns Home. F A Engberry, missing since January 1, was found in Washington DC and brought back to Stevens Point. He had debts to several businessmen and faces potential action by Fidelity and Deposit Company.

Lost To the Normel in Rough Contested High School Game

The local high school basketball team fell to the Stevens Point normals 41 to 11 last Friday at the armory. Three locals named Thomas Eiche and Leahy were knocked out as the rough yet scientific contest unfolded. A girls preliminary ended 1 to 0 and drew a merry crowd. attendance filled galleries and the management profited. Manager Webster may take the team to Chicago March 17 for the American Amateur Basketball association tournament if arrangements work. A secondNormals game is planned for Saturday night March 12. Church notes and schedules follow with services, Bible school and a sunrise communion. Company A inspection planned for March 22 with Maj. Woodward as inspector.
