Legislative Doings and Tax Bills In Wisconsin Assembly
The Lenroot resolution to raise bonds to ten percent of valuation failed on Monday. Assemblyman Cady opposed, arguing municipal ownership is a debt issue and warning against eroding bond values. The Life Insurance tax bill passed both houses and the governor, cutting retaliatory tax for mutuals and setting a nominal license fee. The Northwestern company faces a $100,000 retaliatory tax. Bills on divorced remarriage wait one year. Matrimony calls for restraint, not encouragement. New bill counts show 1,000 measures reported to date, higher than prior sessions. Gil Vandercook’s expense bill totals 9280, presented by Cady.
