A large Marshfield contingent joined Neillsville lodges for a June picnic in a shaded grove with a program and an address by S. P. Lealand of Chicago. The gathering formed the Central Wisconsin Masonic Picnic association with 1904 plans and sites across Black River Falls Meridan Humbird Neillsville Greenwood Marshfield and others.

Fre d Sommers Injured by Runaway Team Near Station
Fred Sommers, prominent farmer and machinery dealer, was seriously injured when a runaway delivery team from Tiffault Kamps Mercantile struck him in an alley near the Wisconsin Central station. He sustained head and face injuries, later hospitalized, with doctors optimistic about recovery. The horses bolted from a stable, already partially unhitched, and dragged the wagon before the rake halted them. Social circle expresses relief at implied recovery and regrets his misfortune.

Tough Gypsy Band Causes City Turmoil and Crime
Officer Griffin halted a notorious gang of about fifteen gypsies who swept through the city Friday night, stopping at saloons and businesses to fortune tell for coins. After one woman was jailed, three others pleaded for release, pledging to leave for Spencer. The group, linked to recent regional trouble, is blamed for a prior fire at New Lisbon. Also, P. H. A massive sewer excavator replaces about 500 workers on a big eight mile pipe project to be completed in three months. Abbotsford Railway Upgrades Start With Round House
The Wisconsin Central railway gains authority for permanent improvements at Abbotsford including a new round house, trackage, a dam and pumping station on the Baw Pleine river with mains. Estimated cost is 263000 dollars under Division Engineer Langdon and Engineer Noble. Nobles began clearing the round house site with 16 acres to be cleared and grading soon. The project boosts Abbotsford’s outlook and local activity. Meanwhile Neillsville hosts the Twelfth Annual Veterans Association reunion with many veterans and families attending. A parade and lecture by Samuel F. P. Leland are planned along with speeches by Senators Kreutzer and McGillvary and Commander Jos Rundie.
