Marshfield gears up for a major Fourth of July celebration led by the fire department and U C T council. Committee includes Robert Connor as chair with Louis Carl Louis Hart and Frank Reiger and Jacob Wilhelm coordinating the department’s tasks. A band, uniformed groups, a Kriegerverein appearance, a parade and athletic events at the fairgrounds are planned, including a basesball game between fremen and U S I teams and a tug of war between two societies. Farmers are urged to attend for special attractions and vigorous promotion is advised.

Sad Death of John Rossman Jr
John Rossman Jr, a popular city youth, died at 11 p m last Saturday after a five day illness from heart disease. The funeral was at 2 30 Tuesday at the Presbyterian church with Rev. Laird leading. He was eighteen, son of Mr. John Rossman, and lifelong resident, mourned by bereaved parents and relatives.

Four freight cars derailed blocking line in local yards
Four Sea freight cars were pushed onto a siding during switching in the local yards last Friday evening. One car toppled onto the main line, blocking the road briefly but no passenger trains were delayed. A wrecking crew from Stevens Point cleared the track before midnight. Engineer James and Conductor Krueger were in charge.
