Boy Lost in Woods Reunited with Family After 2 Days

Matt Weber, five miles north of Marshfield, Wisconsin, was found alive after two days and nights missing in dense pine woods. A citywide search organized by Mayor Williams and Gov. Upham used logging trains and hundreds of volunteers, tracking through swamps, slashings, and vines. The boy, exhausted and scratched, recounted wandering four miles through rugged terrain, sleeping under logs, and narrowly avoiding danger, before being carried home by the sheriff's team to a relieved mother and father.
