Annual Marshfield school meeting notes finance and votes
The annual meeting drew 72 attendees, split roughly between men and women. District Director Upham chaired, with Vedder delivering the board’s report showing receipts of 23,3200.37 and expenses around 21,906.70, leaving 1,389.61 on hand. The district forecast a 10,500.00 levy and recommended 19,500.00 for 1896 to cover debts and operations. Treasurer Capy reported bonds, balances, and cash in hand totaling about 1,089.61, with 4,000.00 in outstanding bonds to be paid, and two future bond maturities. The meeting adopted the tax levy, approved the treasurer’s report, elected a new treasurer by 53 of 72 ballots, and adjourned to reconvene next Monday to audit records.
