Death of George French Conductor on Wisconsin Central
George French longtime Central road conductor died at Ced ar street home after a short illness tied to an on duty injury and blood poisoning. Services were held at the Episcopal church with pallbearers named, then interment in Fond du Lac at St Pauls Cathedral. He was about 68, unmarried, long in service between Stevens Point Chicago and Neenah Chicago routes, recently assigned to the Nekoosa run.

The Company basketball team defeated Wausau Y M C A by a score of 3% to 25 in a fast, snappy game. Wausey bays started strong but Co A veterans, unbeaten in ten winter games, rallied to lead 15 to 10 at halftime and never relinquished the advantage. Lineups included Marshfield Ross and Schmirler for Wausau, and Parker, Witt, Speer, and Weeks for Marshfield with officials from both squads.

Marshfield high school defeated Stevens Point 35 to 22 at Marshfield Saturday night. Chimney Fire Damages DuFour Residence in Frigid Frost
Fire department responded to a morning chimney fire at the residence of S. N. DuFour at Second and Vine. A long cracked chimney from severe cold caused smoke to fill the home until repairs by a mason were completed. Similar chimney fires occurred at John F. Cole and F R Pollard on Cherry street.
