Wood County Agricultural School Expands Rural Training

The Wood County Training school at Grand Rapids grows as county boards adopt the two year agricultural and domestic economy program. Under W. W. Clark, the course covers carpentry dairy soils animal husbandry and farm management. Girls study domestic economy and cooking while boys learn forge work carpentry and farm mechanics.

Classes Begin For Instruction In Citizenship

Foreign-born residents and families may join weekly classes at Marshfield city hall to study U S government history and ideals. M J Kilsdonk of St Paul, a naturalization examiner, plans the program with Mayor Felker and the board of industrial education. The first session is set for Monday evening February 14 at the city hall.

Wool on its way east from Australia via Stevens Point

Millions of dollars in wool are being shipped through Stevens Point over the Soo Line bound for England. A Friday train of 33 cars valued at about 500000 at current prices carried freight charges up to 1700 per car. Subsequent trains on Saturday Monday and Tuesday added 39 10 12 and 14 wagons respectively. The wool travels from Australia via Yokohama to Pacific coast ports then inland to New York. It forms part of Britain wartime supplies likely to see service on battlefields.

H Haschke a former resident of Fountain Juneau county died January 18 1916 at his son John Haschke’s home near Lindsey He born September 10 1831 in Freiwadore Austria Came to the U S in 1875 lived on a farm near Germantown and later with his son He married Marie Otte in 1860 and had ten children seven surviving four grandchildren and four great grandchildren Funeral was at St Michael’s church Indian Creek conducted by Rev Fr Achtelik Necegah.

Pioneer Richfield resident Jacob Hansen dies at 76

Jacob Hansen a pioneer of Richfield Wisconsin died Sunday at his home aged 76 years five months and eighteen days He was born in Norway came to the United States in 1869 settling first at Necedah Wisconsin Later he lived in Richfield township where he served as town supervisor and in school offices He is survived by his widow two sons Haxs and Martin and a daughter Mary The funeral will be held Thursday.

Judge Park Criticizes Jury Deliberation Practices

During the January term in Wood county at Grand Rapids Circuit Judge B B Park condemned juries kept together overnight in small rooms when no verdict is reached. He said the court would discuss reform with the Wood county board. Illinois tradition allows resumption of deliberations in daylight. Death of Two Week Old Child in Rozellville

Edward Voss, two weeks old, died Sunday at Rozellville from convulsions. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9 30 from the Catholic church in Rozellville and from the Lutheran church in town for Gameron.
