A Democratic county convention in Marshfield selected delegates for state congressional and senatorial contests. Edward Lynch was favored for senator and Ed Lynch led a slate for delegates, with L. M. Nash resigning amid claims of disorganization. The convention fixed Sept 25 in Marshfield during the street fair and adjourned at 3:45 pm after reaffirmation of the Kansas City platform failed.

Abbotsford Saloon Keeper Shoots Self in Mouth
Paul Woock of Woock Brothers saloon-keepers in Abbotsford attempted suicide by firing a .38 revolver into his mouth. He was treated at St Joseph's hospital where a bullet lodged in the back of his head was removed. The 24 year old single man is described as troubled by serious personal issues and a quarrel with his father and brother.

Better Telephone Service For Marshfield Promised
Marshfield subscribers will soon receive top tier service as the sole proprietor Mr. Marsh plans a full metallic exchange. He says ninety percent of subscribers urged the change via letters published last week and work will begin once the exchange moves to new quarters. The upgrade requires two wires per line, new switchboards, and replacing old wires, with completion expected in about a year.

Crusaders Close Camp After Three-Week Wisconsin Tour
The Wisconsin Division of the Christian Crusaders concluded a three week camp meeting at Saenger park Marshfield with nine bands and about forty participants led by Col W H Lake and C W Campbell. Numerous converts were welcomed as the crusaders move to other state sites. Also wedding news reports Miss Lettie Jual and Mr Torkild Bille wed at the groom’s parents home with Rev J F Young officiating. The couple plans a northern wedding tour before settling in Marshfield.

Hunting Season Opens Monday
Open season for prairie chicken grouse partridge snipe pheasant woodcock and other winged game runs three months from September 1. Ducks and aquatic fowls hunting starts then and ends January 1. A current hunter license is required with strict penalties for noncompliance. Game wardens will be active in Wood Waushara and Adams counties to enforce the law.

Labor Day Observance To Be Led By Local Unions
Labor Day preparations are under way with the Wood Workers' and Clerks' unions in charge. The event on Monday September 1 includes a parade from Central avenue to Union Park, headed by the Second Regiment band, followed by labor groups and local societies.
