W. E. Brown Nominated For Congress In Wisconsin District

The Wisconsin tenth district Republican convention at Grand Rapids chose Hon. W. E. Brown of Rhinelander as the party nominee for congress. Delegates from Wood County were confirmed for the Ashland district convention, and resolutions praised the administration’s foreign and domestic policies, especially Cuba and the Panama Canal. A Tennis Club was organized at the Elys Club with Robert Connor as president and Arthur C. Hoene as secretary, to operate on Maple street courts.

County Board to Meet for Special Session in Grand Rapids

County Clerk Renne calls a special session of the county board of supervisors at Grand Rapids starting Tuesday May 3. The meeting will elect the board chairman for the coming year and make committee appointments. George W. Brown, who chaired last year, is expected to be offered a second term.

Manager S. Clark Weds Edith Robertson in Battle Creek

Friends of Manager S. Clark of the New Thomas house were surprised to learn he married Edith Robertson of Battle Creek Michigan. The couple wed last Thursday in Battle Creek and returned Tuesday for a short wedding trip before settling in the New Thomas House, where Clark has recently taken charge.

First Colored Marshfield Wedding Joins Miss Jones and Prof Shirley

Miss Lillian Jones of Waukesha and Professor Lawrence T. Shirley of this city wed Thursday at J C Dorpat hotel parlors in Marshfield. Judge R B Andrews officiated. George Choice led the reception as master of ceremonies. The couple, new to Marshfield, are described as amiable and estimable.

Reunion of Civil War Veterans to Gather May 9

Veterans of the Civil War from Marshfield and central Wisconsin are invited to a May 9 gathering at City Hall with the James G Blaine post hosting. Prominent speakers include dep t commander Rundle and adjutant general Richardson. A patriotic feast replaces former banquets as the rally aims to boost attendance and support for veterans.

Snow White Production Opens Tonight At Opera House

Young performers under Miss MacParlate have completed rehearsals for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Choruses are ready and advance seat sales are strong. The opera will be repeated tomorrow night with proceeds after expenses benefiting the high school music program.
