Editor of Kansas City Star Purged of Contempt
A report from Missouri Supreme Court notes Col. W. R. Nelson of the Kansas City Star was found in contempt for a gateway article. The court held newspapers may fairly interpret court actions without impugning motives, and that no intent to discredit the court was shown. The case is set for May 6 before the full court. In a Cow story, neighbor dispute over cow skin and calf leads to a humorous Merchant of Venice analogy as Weigand seeks return of cow and calf. Hawkins claims ownership of the hide and contents, while Weigand argues ownership of the entire animal.
