Bail Set After Athens Assault Hearing
August Kirbeck of Athens was arrested last week on charges of assault with intent to kill. After a preliminary hearing before Justice Peter Schmidt, he was bound over for circuit court with bail set at 1000 dollars. The defendant's wife testified that he shot at her twice with a Winchester on April 5 and has threatened to kill her on other occasions.
