The school board forbids undue extravagance in junior prom gowns. Superintendent C W Otte released a notice stating the junior party at the armory must not be a dress parade. Parents are urged to keep attire modest, aligning with prior graduating class limits on gowns.
Many friends of B F McMillan pioneer lumberman and banker will be pleased to learn he is slowly gaining the upper hand of the malady threatening his eyesight. He remains at a Milwaukee sanatorium since January 14 with gradual improvement and Mrs McMillan by his side.
State movement to lift Wisconsin from third to second among states and provinces. O F leads a Wisconsin campaign with buttons reading Help Me Put Wisconsin in Second Place. Chief Ranger John A Kestel and Vice Chief Ranger George Donhard head five member committees seeking new members. $50 prize for largest gain. $25 for best percentage gain. Committees include A G Felker Matt Miches Leo Fehrenbach Jacob Leinwander John Weister Joseph Pflum Jacob Thomas Louis Rembs R L Kraus and W Sigh. Both report satisfactory progress.
Health officer Dr J C Hayward, at Mayor Felker and public works board request, sent three Marshfield water samples to Madison labs. City water from two taps tested excellent, while a north side well sample showed less than first class due to ongoing drilling likely contaminating the sample. Additional tests will be performed on the new well this week.
St Pauls Evangelical church reports rising membership as a class was confirmed this week. Names confirmed include Mrs G Scheibe Miss Minnie Schindler Joseph Schindler John Schindler O Laabs. A larger confirmation class is set for next Sunday with listed candidates such as Arthur Van Epps August Storm Ervin Kohl Ralph Schalke Norman Atnman Martha Speerbecker Elizabeth Speerbecker Enna Kemnits Meria Deichsel Tala Meyers Viola Miller Lillian Mayer. The quarterly meeting follows Sunday afternoon with many applicants for membership to be voted on.
The Town of Lincoln caucus at the tower hall nominated a full ticket led by Chairman Louis Rustad. Supervisors Matt Jonas Jacob Gropp Clerk Conrad Wittman Treasurer C F Knudson Assessor Lambert Michels Constables Walter Peterson Henry Miller Justice Anton Henseler. Conrad Wittman seeks clerk, replacing E Wyman who moved to Marshfield. Mrs Major Martin of St Paul and Mrs Archie Schubert arrived due to Mrs Kohl’s illness. Mrs Kohl improving. Finland women vote on equal terms with men.
A Soe line wreck occurred yesterday morning two and a half miles east of Vesper when the sever returning from Nekoosa to Marshfield was ditched by a broken rail. Initial reports suggested fatalities, but The Times found no deaths or serious injuries though one coach left the track. Wrecker from Stevens Point reached Marshfield by ten o clock, proceeding to the scene with Trainmaster Wade and Claim Agent Glass aboard.
Emil Abraham and Ben Timerson, carpenters at the Hotel Blodgett addition, fell from the third floor when a stringer gave way. Both escaped serious injury, walking home instead of taking ambulances. Abraham clung to the stringer to avoid being carried under scaffolding. Timerson sustained bruises.
With six days left before election day the city awaits a choice between a reactionary slate to restore repudiated policies and supporters of Mayor Felker seeking a businesslike administration. Polls open at six and close at eight with results to appear in Wednesday’s edition. list of candidates by ward includes Cruckenberger Bathrick or Dolezal Mewarlane Reddis Kirschner Hastings Stauss Scheuer Schimmelpfenning Witt Kvasin Geenstein.
John Michels, 47, died Tuesday noon at his Marshfield home 300 North Central. Death cause yellow jaundice after a prolonged illness. He moved three years ago from Oshkosh, his birthplace, and ran a saloon in a brick building at Central and B streets. Widow to take body to Oshkosh. Funeral plans not yet set. He was valued for integrity and business sense.
The ticket committee of the Marshfield fire department led by Chief John A Hoffman and Fireman Thomas D Spalding began a campaign for tickets to the annual firemen's ball. The event will be at the armory on Monday evening April 13 with music by the Second Regiment orchestra.

Weyauwega attorney Charles F. Crane said there is no lineup of Democratic congressional candidates in the new Eighth district. He traveled from Auburndale to Marshfield and would not commit to a specific candidate, noting Waupaca county Democrats may have a tentative selection to be announced later.
Barbers in Marshfield announce a required price rise starting today due to higher shop costs. Aimed at maintaining profit, the move sets a fifteen cent shave and twenty five cent hair cut, with profits tied to rents, utilities, laundry and wages.

Fred Morehouse Milwaukee editor Living Church will be principal speaker at the banquet April 23 with Bishop R H Weller expected present.
John Hill, son of a prominent local family, was splitting wood Monday when an axe slipped. He was brought to town and received sixteen stitches after the blade nearly severed his thumb.
A middle aged Bohemian farmer, John Hlavae of Big Plats Adams County, is found hanged in trees south of Marshfield’s water works by two boys. Coroner’s jury rules death by own action. A letter to Rosalie Chemlik of 707 Laflin St Chicago points to possible connections. Frank Chemlik of Chicago arrives to assist in the inquest and burial plans follow.
A circulating report claimed the daughter of a well known town man attempted suicide by carbolic acid. The Times found no such incident, the father denying any event occurred, with no police report or doctor involved in the matter.
