County Convention Debates Whig Delegates in Calhoun
Delegates from Calhoun county met at Macxhall on a Saturday in September to appoint representatives to state senatorial conventions. Officers were elected, credentials committee named, and eleven town delegates listed. The convention selected four county delegates for the state convention and adopted resolutions supporting Henry Clay, criticizing the late administration, praising the Whig platform, and opposing free trade and public debt growth.
