Man Struck by Auto on East Main Street
John R. Rogardus of Marshall was knocked down by a car driven by Dr. W Henry Walsh of Albion near the Union depot on East Main Street. He suffered facial and arm cuts with no broken bones. Eyewitnesses said he escaped by a miracle. Rogardus, who is colored, looked away briefly before stepping into the street after leaving the engine house. Dr. Walsh halted and assisted the injured man, taking him to his sister Mrs. Peterson’s home on Adrien avenue. Rogardus said he does not blame the doctor and plans for his future arrangements may be made. Passersby noted the auto was not speeding and the muffler was loud.
