Falker Insane in Court Amid Draft Charge and Delusions
In Justice Bidwell's court on Wednesday morning the examination of Falker, charged with obtaining clothing from Arthur D. Smith by false pretense, proceeded as he showed signs of insanity. He raved about being killed, clutched his hands, and pleaded for protection while doctors assessed his mental state. Education notes promise strong school year start
Nearly half the district schools begin September 7 as J H Atwood and wife receive higher pay. The teaching force expands by about ten new teachers since April. W N Ferris may address the county teachers’ association in Athens in October. A complete catalog of public schools has been issued. Enrollments show 252, with 86 third grade, 7 first grade, and 0 second grade noted. Sixty percent expected to pass the test. sixty seven took the exam, forty eight certified. Teachers urged to report commencements to the commissioner and prepare exhibits for the county fair.
