Monument to John D Pierce New School Project
The Marshall school board, at its regular meeting Wednesday, approved a plan for a 41 new school building on John W. Pierce Boulevard. Rev John D Pierce, founder of Michigan’s public school system, is honored with a biography and history of Marshall. Pierce died 1882 and is buried in Oakridge cemetery. The board also voted to add fifty reference books including sixteen volumes on American history and to install cork flooring in several high school rooms to reduce noise.
