Editorial Notes on Election Returns and Outlook
The Statesman and Detroit Post report the New York result is still undetermined amid mixed signals from bulletins and private dispatches. Republicans may have carried New York, Indiana and other states, with Blaine and Logan possibly elected even without New York, while margins vary across states and counties.

The Baptist Society praised Rev W W Paltenglis and his wife for their labors in building up the church in the city before leaving. A gathering of fifty or sixty people at Mr Chas Vary's residence featured a reception with baskets of delicacies and a china water set as a gift. It was a pleasant occasion remembered by all. Meanwhile at the Michigan Central ticket office a country visitor attempted to buy two Marshall tickets with a two dollar bill and was apprehended after the note was found in his vest pocket.
