Great Cataract Recession At Niagara Falls Described
E. L. Garbett analyzes Lyell’s rate theory using Kalms 1775 account to show Niagara Gorge widened by 100 acres and deepened bed, altering fall heights from 137 to about 160 feet. He portrays Goat Island and Luna Islet’s erosion, arguing the west fall widened while the east waned, potentially merging island beds into New York State.

Change in Complexion Hammocks Plot in Besatifyisg Women
A strange anecdote from Albany Journal describing a hammock hung with one end higher than the other. The elder sister appears lovelier when the head is raised and blood flows to her cheeks, while a pale half sister gains color by lying with her head below. The explanation cites bodily blood shifts and mild vertigo as the reforming magic of the hammock.
