Tragedy near Texonsna ends in double murder suicide
A farmer Ranadyne Shedd, 73, and wife were found slain in a two story house two miles southeast of Teronsha after a morning quarrel that ended with Shedd killing his wife with an ax and then taking his own life with her razor. Neighbors note long marital strife and recent violent outbursts. Local coroners jury doubtful of any motive beyond insanity. Funeral services held for Mrs Shedd and Mr Shedd with pastor-led ceremonies.

Forty Hours devotion opens at St Marys church with sermons
The Forty Hours devotion began Monday at 9 o'clock in St Marys church with solemn mass and a procession. Fr. Van Antwerp preached on the holy communion as the Great Feast. Evening talks addressed sins of omission and the tongue, urging confession, prayer, and amendment. Tuesday featured a sermon on desolation from lack of thought, and Wednesday closed with a candlelit mass. About five to six hundred received communion.
