Pioneering Marshall settler Freeman Hotchkiss dies
Freeman Hotchkiss born October 17 1792 in Litchfield Connecticut died April 23 1888 near Marshall Michigan after fifty years on his farm in Marshall township. A deacon and longtime Congregational and Presbyterian church member he helped found schools and churches among early settlers. He married Lydia Tompkins January 19 1825 and had eight children. Funeral details and local notices follow including obituaries for Nellie J. Blanchard Julia Eaton and other Marshall residents with brief tributes and service notes.
